Feeding TrialsQuestion:I am a Veterinary Technology Student in MA. I am completing a project for my Canine and Feline Nutrition class, and I have chosen to do the project on one of your dry dog foods, and one of your dry cat foods. All but two of my questions were answered using your website, which has been extremely helpful, but I did have a couple of questions regarding digestibility. I read that you do not perform feeding trials, and I understand your reasoning for that, but I was curious what tests you do, if any, to determine digestibility. And if you do perform any digestibility tests, would you be able to tell me:
Answer:
Wysong does not perform feeding trials or digestibility tests. We believe these tests are misleading. Please see the below links for an explanation. we feel our 35 years of experience feeding hundreds of thousands of animals through multiple generations, with some pets living into the unheard of late twenties, is the more compelling proof of the merits of Dr. Wysong's pet feeding philosophy. If you are interested, we would be happy to send you and your classmates free copies of The Truth About Pet Foods Book. Question: I am a veterinarian. Do the Rx diets follow AAFCO on an as fed basis or as formulated basis (meaning tested using a feeding trial). Answer:
The Rx diets do not attempt to target AAFCO levels but are rather nutrigenomically designed to address organ systems. However, Wysong Rx diets do meet (actually exceed) the nutrient requirements set by AAFCO for maintenance for cats and dogs. This is on an as fed basis. A literature packet has been sent as you have requested. We included some product samples as well. |
