Question:
Today I was trying to discuss with customer service about the vit and min mix that goes into the Archetype diets, so I have three questions for you that I need your help with:

1. Is this actually a premix that Wysong buys already made up or do you purchase them separate and then blend ingredients to make your own.

2. If a premix, where does the mix come from..outsource??? from the States... or other.....like China ???

3. Why is it added into the diet if the ingredients on the label prior to this is natural sources of vits and mins..as suggested in the literature??

4. The reason I am asking is because, apparently now there are findings that the premix from some sources have caused disease related illness's...this is from the client I have that wants to know before he brings this diet into his store so he can fill good about that section of the listed ingredients in the diets.

Customer Service told me that you have been getting the products from the same sources for several years and have not had any complaints, I understand that but there is no real answer to my questions from her statement...so would you mind helping me out with this.

Answer:
Yes, the vitamins and minerals is a premix sourced from the U.S.

We add them to our products because they are a proven safe nutritional insurance policy.

As for the notion that vitamins and minerals at appropriate levels in pet foods are toxic, see this link: http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/critique-natureslogic.php. Also see: http://wysongeducation.net/?wehl=2013/may/21

Question:
I am still not sure what to tell this client. Why is the premix in the diet if the diet itself is source vits and mins like it states before the premix? Is the supplement that you suggest to give raw feeders the same as the premix and just bottled? Could you point out in the 99 page document (link) that you sent me where the proof is that this mix is not harmful as it appears to be related to human not canine feline information.

Answer:
Processing of the foods diminishes, alters, or destroys the natural vitamins and minerals in the ingredients. That is why it is necessary to add them to ANY heat processed foods. This has been common knowledge for the past 100 years.

The supplements that Wysong offers are special formulations, not just the vitamins and minerals added to the Wysong diets.

The link we sent is not a 99 page document but a short article that talks about vitamin and mineral supplementation in pet diets, and the myths perpetuated by companies trying to sell products by instilling unjustified fears. Reading this link will get you fully informed. Here is the link again: http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/no-vitamin-mineral-processed-foods.php.

Nutritional research and science is applicable to all mammals, particularly that research proving that heat processed foods without fortification should not be fed exclusively.

Question:
Thank you for the quick response I must not understand the archetype process as I thought the process did not destroy and that's why you did it like that. I have a two page sheet on how you do make archetype but I would like to know more about the process.

Do you have more information available??

Answer:
The archetype process is indeed nutrient preserving. We still feel supplemental vitamins and minerals are important to modern humans and animals eating industrially farmed foods and living in our synthetic world.

Attached is a copy of a rough draft for a coming e-HealthLetter on vitamin-mineral safety.

The information we have regarding the processing the of Archetype™ products is this article from the Learn section of the Wysong website: http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/wysong-raw-pet-food-safety-innovations.php. (which may be the one you have already seen).

(see: Vitamin and Mineral Safety)

Question:
Hi. My dog has an extremely sensitive stomach. I suspect she may not be able to tolerate one of the vitamin or mineral additives found in most commercial foods. Can you tell me the source of your vitamin and mineral additives?

Answer:
First, most food sensitivities (and allergies, which can manifest as digestive problems) are reactions to proteins, not vitamins and minerals. Please see this article for more information:http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/the-food-allergies-are-cured-myth.php.

The sources of our ingredients is proprietary information. For more information see Food Fractions/Vitamins/Minerals: http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/food-fractisons.php).

Regarding the safety of vitamins and minerals and their importance in processed foods see: http://www.wysong.net/pet-health-and-nutrition/critique-natureslogic.php. Also see: http://wysongeducation.net/?wehl=2013/may/21

For dogs with digestive problems, we would recommend Epigen™, Archetype™ and the Au Jus Canned Varieties™ (supplemented with Call of the Wild™). Other dry foods to consider would be Synorgon™ or Anergen™ (lamb and brown rice) as these are considered limited ingredient diets. Anergen™ is also available in a canned version.

Please also keep in mind that we recommend feeding a variety of foods, and not any single diet exclusively long term as this may create food intolerances and digestive problems (see intermittent and varied article).

Also, consider supplementing with Wysong E.F.A.™ (essential fatty acids, which are anti-inflammatory) and top-dressing all meals with Pet Inoculant™ (concentrated probiotics – helpful in rebalancing the digestive tract).
