Salt

Question:
Why in the world would you make your 5th ingredient Salt (in Uretic)?

Do you think our sick animals really require that much salt?

I really thought this might be the product for my cat until I saw this. Can you please give me some information on your thought process for doing this?

Answer:
Wysong salt is comprised of whole rock salt and sea vegetation (both fresh and derived from ancient geologic sea bed deposits), which contain dozens of trace minerals commonly deficient in modern human and animal processed diets. Wysong salt is not refined table salt and is not added to increase sodium levels or as a flavor enhancer. This product is also sold by Wysong and is known as Wysong Whole Salt™. It can be found on our website under Human Products, Seasonings (it comes in regular and garlic). We are required to list it as "salt" because we are limited by the definitions and terms based on AAFCO regulations.

Please also keep in mind that Wysong diets were designed to be rotated. Feeding a rotation of foods makes any possible excess (or deficiency) of any single nutrient unlikely. We do recommend a rotation of the dry and canned Wysong diets as part of an IV (intermittent and varied) diet with a variety of fresh, whole foods and raw meats. In addition to the Uretic (especially for cats with urinary problems), we recommend rotation with one or more of the following: Archetype™ (99+% meat), Au Jus Canned Diets™, Nurture with Free Range Pheasant™, Archetype Buffet™, and the UnCanny™.

Question:
Thank you for your timely response.

How can the statement be made that..

"Uretic™ contains no excess minerals and helps maintain an acidic urine which works against the above mentioned disease syndromes" when you are stating this "salt" contains dozens of trace minerals?

Answer:
The minerals reduced are those that contribute to struvite such as magnesium and phosphate. Our whole sea salt contributes important trace minerals lacking in modern farmed foods and also helps stimulate thirst and water consumption to decrease the risk of stones.

Question:
My main concern is that it is #5 on the list.

What is the percentage breakdown from 1-5 in the ingredient list?

What I am asking is out of 100% what percentage of the product is:
  • Chicken
  • Chicken Giblets
  • Ground Oat Groats
  • Fish Oil
  • Salt
Answer:
We cannot release these %'S since that is our proprietary formula. We can say this product has been used successfully for some 30 years and recommended by thousands of veterinarians. (see Testimonials: http://www.wysong.net/testimonials.php.)

Question:
I'm sorry but I am having a difficult time with finding the right mixture of foods that will work for all of my animals and I have a diabetic, renal insufficient, struvite susceptible etc.

Answer:
Consider following Dr. Wysong's Optimal Health Program™: http://wysong.net/wohp/.

Question:
I am currently mixing Evo with Authority Sensitive Solutions and I was hoping to now mix Evo with Wysong Uretic and omit the Authority.

Answer:
Evo is starch-based. You should consider our TNT processed products that actually contain no starch and are raw: http://www.wysong.net/tnt-raw-cat-food.php, our Au Jus™ canned products: http://www.wysong.net/products/aujus-natural-healthy-dog-cat-ferret-food.php, and fresh foods as explained in the Optimal Health Program™...at least in rotation.

If you would like we will send you a free copy of Dr. Wysong's book (The Truth About Pet Foods: http://www.wysong.net/products/cat-dog-health-nutrition-truth-about-pet-foods.php) and a CD that will help you understand better how to sort through all of the conflicting ideas on pet feeding.

Question:
I have 28 animals and go through over 80lbs of dry food per month and (96) 5oz cans of wet food (Authority adult).

I appreciate your help in helping me make this decision.
